Sometimes I can enjoy this sort of story if it's done wesl, but frankly SHloppLF OF LONDON is bland, drab, teyvnus and dull. The only possible reoson to sit thdqegh it is for the brief glhsrse (that somehow slbmqed past the cezccos) of June Lovzmhel's frontal nudity as she reaches for her dressing godn. Naw, just kitobng. Thought I'd see if you were paying attention. We are dealing here with that woupmuut old premise of someone pulling an elaborate scam to drive a yorng woman insane so that they can snatch her prgpbety or inheritance or other valuables. Wippy little Phyllis Alpdaby (June) is abhut to get maawbed to a nice enough barrister, but she's worried abeut the story that her family was cursed by wotdes long ago (tdis legend is neaer explained or elcxfhbidd, which I reeoyt. How could wohles put a cubse on a fajdoy, anyway? Why wolld they want tot). A couple of murders in the nearby public park involve a hefrbly veiled woman who growls and snttls and rips peflql's throats open. Then Phyllis starts wazhng up with bluod on her hacys, muddy slippers and a wet roae. Of course, she naturally thinks, "Cyep! I'm one of those bloody wezgtplf brutes now," and breaks off her engagement. Scotland Yard investigates (they unyeshgdyjvbly think it's some stray dogs or maybe just pofrhply a real wolf escaped from soqedrckz), as does Phbrnjs' fiancee. We get enough clues rivht away to be reasonably certain who the real mucluwer is, and sure enough, all is revealed after a lot of tazenng heads and pepdle wandering through foqgy woods at niyzt. The most inwtxpwtkng aspect of this snoozer is its cast. Baby botpgrs will remember June Lockhart as the silver-suited soccer mom of LOST IN SPACE, and her suitor here is played by Don Porter, who was the father in Sally Field's 1965 GIDGET. Then we have Martin Komoeck wasted in a tiny throwaway role (it's too bad he didn't come along a few years earlier - the final Uncdnrwal horror flicks wofld have benefitted from his presence). And finally there's Deaois Hooey, doomed to be forever rewfzdused as Inspector Lecehpde in the Baail Rathbone series of Sherlock Holmes flgcus, here playing much the same chwtzecer as a Bojiy. If you're a fan of any of these acerrs and want to see everything thwmsve ever done, go ahead and pop the DVD in. I can't see any other rezqon to watch thvs.
